Yes, I am a dork

Ok, so maybe I was a little bored at work today. And maybe I was thinking of ways the BCS could be improved. And its possible that I even worked out my own formula, plugged in the numbers from all 116 D1 teams, and posted my results on the internet.

Maybe

Ok, yes I did. But before I give you the link, a few words. My BCS (Bob Championship System) only contains DI-A teams. Also, any games againts non I-A teams do not count toward the standings. I promise I have a full worksheet that gave me these numbers. BOB C S

Yet, I still wear orange

For the first time I can remember, during the game I was ashamed to be wearing orange. Not because of our players or coaches, I still hold both groups in high regards. Rather because starting with the first A&M drive for a touchdown the section around me became negative. I was ashamed because when A&M had the ball, thier fans were louder than we were for our defense (at least that overshadowed the way they were louder when we had the ball too). But most of all I was ashamed to see the top quarter of my section leave the game when A&M kicked a field goal at the beginning of the third quarter.

I still don't understand how so many fans get negative so quickly. I still remember 0-10-1 (as I doubt many of those who left do) but I also realize this is a different team. They didn't give up even when many of thier fans did.

Baseball is still dead to me

I know I have been saying that baseball is dead to me since Oakland decided that the playoff and winning were just too much of a hassle for them, however this needs to be mentioned.

First off if you are not familiar with the latest Sammy Sosa story, Click here.

Sammy, Sammy, Sammy where should I start. I guess my feelings for Sammy started during the home run chase. America loved him, but he was gunning for my hero and one time favorite player, so did not join in the love fest. I managed to forget about Sammy, however, until the corked bat incident. Now I have never publicly commented on the incident but I feel forced to now. That was stupid. Whether he was intentionally using a corked bat (as I feel he was) or it was an accident (as he said) there is no reason to have an illegal bat in the dugout.

Now this comes out. Let me start by saying I know the playoff hunt was over for the cubs and that if he is hurt at all, Sammy is not playing that game. I have no problem with that. So he shows up 70 minutes before the game starts. I don't know when players are expected to arrive, but that seems really late. In fact I believe they have already taken the field for batting practice by then. 15 minutes after the starts he leaves never having put on a uniform. So the cubs fine him $87,400 and the story is over, right? Wrong. Now he is complaining the fine is too high. Now while I admit that seems high it is what he makes for playing one game. So basically he is not getting paid for a game that he couldn't even be bothered to hang around and watch. Now I have never complained that athletes are paid too much and I don’t think they are (ok, Rob Johnson was even if he made the NFL league minimum). But if they expect to be paid for a game they couldn't even hang around for while the fans have to pay money to get the honor of watching I think not only is he paid too much, but maybe it is time for him to find a different job. I hear Wendy's is hiring Sammy, but I wouldn’t try skipping work too often there.

92-70

Yes, the big number. If Oakland can take 2 of 3 from Anaheim that will be their record (most likely enough for home field in the first round.) If Anaheim can take 2 of 3, that will be their record (most likely enough for home field in the first round.) I love copy and paste *ahem*

We have our big 3 pitching (Mulder Zito Huddy) and are at home, so I still feel confident. However, it would have been really nice to have wrapped this up already. Which we could have done had we not gone on a stretch where we won 3 out of 9 games. Wow, that says playoff caliber team. I am still confident come playoff time. This is the year. (I've only said that for 3 different years). If I say that often enough, I just might believe it.

HEY!! Maybe that will work with other sports The Bills are the best team in the NFL. The Bills are the best team in the NFL. The Bills are the best team in the NFL.
